The rubber body of the V-mount is, as the name already indicates, V-shaped. The spring stiffness in the direction of the V is set using the angle. In large deformations, the spring stiffness increases sharply because of the rising pressure component.
While the rubber blocks are subjected to a high pressure in the second direction and are therefore very stiff, the mount in the third direction is extremely soft. Depending upon the requirement, the V-mount can be combined with stops.
Prestressing is generally applied by the static dead weight of the component to be mounted.
